Howden digital marketing agency And Marketing has launched phase two of the Visit Howden website for Howden Town Council.
A hub of visitor information for everything ‘Howden’, And Marketing first launched the website in January 2024, with events, things to do and community sections aimed at both tourists and locals alike. Phase two of the project has involved building a directory for local businesses, with Howden’s shops, eateries and more listed.
Speaking about the exciting project, Laura Smith from Howden Town Council said, “Howden is made up of many different groups and businesses which are fragmented and hard to find. We wanted to create a website for Visit Howden which would act as an online information hub detailing all Howden has to offer in one place, to benefit both the community and its visitors.”
Local traders are at the heart of phase two. Independent traders make up a large proportion of Howden’s businesses, and the aim of promoting these businesses in a user-friendly directory is to encourage more people to shop with Howden’s local traders. Business categories on the website include accommodation, food and drink, hobbies, professional services and more.
Director of And Marketing, Michelle Millar, said, “This has been a fantastic project to work on for Howden Town Council. As a Howden-based business, we’ve been excited to pour lots of our local knowledge and our love for Howden into this project, and we’re thrilled with the results.”
Visit Howden’s stylish green branding was developed as a collaboration between Howden Town Council, And Marketing and Howden-based designer and shop Tom Loves. Supported by East Riding of Yorkshire Council funding, Howden Town Council is now rolling out the Visit Howden brand on everything from giant deck chairs to water bottles, and it’s expected to be prominent at Howden’s events this summer, including Howden Show.
The next steps are for branded boards to be put up in key locations across the town to encourage visitors to the website, where they can experience the range of things to do, places to visit and events going on in the town. Visitors can also sign up for a regular email newsletter to keep them updated on the latest events and more on the website.
Laura continued, “And Marketing shared our Visit Howden vision right from the start. Michelle guided and supported us through the website build and launch every step of the way, her contribution and ideas greatly benefitted the design and outcome.
“The Visit Howden website will benefit the town and improve access to local resources and services and provide a future platform to promote Howden on a wider level.”
