Since the pandemic, the food e-commerce industry has never been more competitive, which is exactly why curry kit provider Spyced needed a website that would take them all the way. This case study explains how And Marketing supported the launch of spyced.co.uk – an open-source digital storefront that can grow as the business develops.
The well-seasoned concept
When thinking about fast food, your mind might go straight to bland, beige, and lifeless. Spyced is about to change all that. These pre-mixed spice kits cook from hob to hand in just 30 minutes. That’s less time than a delivery driver! What’s more, they’re all homemade, sustainable, and mouth-wateringly tasty.
Armed with a logo and an idea, business Owner Jill came to And Marketing for guidance, starting with a shiny new website that would showcase exactly what Spyced had to offer.
A website that lands
Throughout this website project, we aligned closely with web designer Jenny at 8woodview. Together with Jill, we teamed up to bring a strategic, creative, and user-friendly storefront packed with opportunities to up and cross-sell.
To begin this journey we identified all the landing pages required, developing a sitemap that would include a mix of ‘always on’ and ‘turnover’ content. The website was divided into several components, namely Shop, About, Recipes, News and Contact. The online shop houses the lion’s share of technical work and involved integration with a payment gateway and commerce partner to support the management of online orders.
Content management with a kick
Jill has years of experience creating delicious-ness and has recipes and ideas coming out of her ears! So, a big part of this project involved content structuring and taking readers on a natural journey (ending with a Spyced treat in their virtual cart, of course).
Fantastic imagery is a huge part of content creation, and luckily for us Jill was working with the best. Paul Matthews set the bar very high with a series of beautiful photography that will be used for years to come.
“We were thrilled to work on this exciting new brand website launch. Spyced’s website not only looks great with the benefit of fabulous photography of the colourful products, but it has hit the ground running from an SEO perspective.”

Letting clients do what they do best
As a business owner, it can be tempting to think you should do it all. But admin-heavy work stifles creativity. This was exactly the case with Jill, a familiar And Marketing client. Jill understood that, for a project like this, communication and trust are key. We approached every challenge as a united front, and her ability to ‘hand over’ key marketing responsibilities gave great clarity and space to make her efforts more valuable in other areas of the business.
“This is the second business in which I have used Michelle’s marketing services, and, in both instances, she has taken a cool-headed and innovative approach to the many challenges I have faced.”

Looking for a blend of services?
This project shows the multi-faceted role And Marketing can play when it comes to brand development. From the drawing board right the way through to launch, it pays to have someone on your side that’s been there and done it all.
If you’re considering a new business launch, then let’s talk about how we can maximise your reach and potential together.
“Delivering a website that functions seamlessly – both from the user perspective and from the admin side – is always the goal. We look forward to continuing to work with Spyced!”

“Michelle has taken the pressure off my new business launch and has consistently offered insightful suggestions and ideas that have spanned way beyond her remit. I might add that she also has the patience of a saint!”
